The Haunted Kinetic Lab of Horrors, a one-of-a-kind Halloween event, returns to the Kinetic Sculpture Lab in Arcata from October 24th, 25th, 30th and Halloween. Get ready for a spine-tingling journey through a haunted lab where terrifying surprises and creepy creations await.This year’s event promises to be the most horrifying yet, with an immersive guided tour through the Lab's dark corners and twisted rooms. You will encounter the Lab’s unwanted "guests"—monstrous experiments, bizarre sculptures, creepy clowns and live creatures lurking in every shadow. Live music every night, the haunted atmosphere will be amplified as you make your way through this one-of-a-kind, artist-designed horror show.Key Details:Dates & Times: Friday, October 24th, Saturday, October 25th, Thursday 30th and Halloween, from 7:00 PM – Midnight.Location: Kinetic Sculpture Lab, 820 8th Street at N Street, Arcata, CA (Creamery District).Tickets: $15 at the gate (cash only). Recommended for ages 13+.Food & Fun: Enjoy food food trucks while you wait, and an eerie vibe created live music every night.Proceeds from the Haunted Lab of Horrors benefit the Kinetic Sculpture Lab, helping six teams to compete in the Kinetic Grand Championship—the original triathlon of the art world—where artists and engineers compete with their human-powered art sculptures each Memorial Day weekend.Unlike typical haunted houses, this event is conceived and built by artists, making it a unique, creative, and thrilling experience. Groups of 4-6 will be guided through synchronized "stages" featuring elaborate lighting, sound, special effects, and dark humor that will scare even the bravest souls. WARNING: This haunted experience is not for the faint of heart. Participants should be prepared for intense scares, strobe lights, loud noises, darkness and a cast of terrifying creatures that will haunt your nightmares long after you’ve escaped. Join Friends of the Dunes for Nature Story Time at the Humboldt Coastal Nature Center. Nature Story Time is geared for ages 3 to 6, and is held every Thursdays from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM starting October 2nd and ending on December 11th. Each week there is a short story, movement activity and art project for children and their caregivers to enjoy. Upcoming topics include owls, pollinators, and dune plants. Nature Story Time on October 9th and November 20th will be bilingual (Spanish). In October, the Ferndale Museum is holding Candlelight & Ghost Stories, a family-friendly tour through the museum with each spooky stop featuring a ghostly visit from a spirit of Ferndale's past. There are no "jump-scares" in the tour. Come join us for some spooky fun!

Our commercial fishermen will be taking over Madaket Plaza at the foot of C street, Old Town Eureka on scheduled Saturdays from 9am- 1pm June - November,
Come down, meet your fishermen, and learn about our fishing industry. Captains will be selling their fresh catch open air style. Buy a whole fish and have it filleted on site at our custom fillet station. Making fish stock or need fish waste for your garden?? Let our Market staff know and we will have it wrapped up for you at pick-up. Buckets and Ice chests are encouraged.
