Today we’re featuring some music from local self-described "drag rock" band Vegan Slaughterhouse, whose members —July (guitar and vocals), Komboujia (lead vocals) and Mobius (drums) — also joined us for an interview earlier this week.

We’ll here two pieces from the band — a cover of “Sweet Transvestite” by Richard O'Brien, and their original “Cereal Thrilla” — both performed live at Outer Space Arcata during the Cistem Failure show on June 13, 2024, and learn more about the band, their memorable name and what they hope people get out of their shows.

You can follow or reach out to Vegan Slaughterhouse on Instagram and find the videos of their full performance, along with many other videos of live bands on Outer Space Arcata's YouTube page. Thanks so much to Komboujia, Mobius and July for joining us for the interview and to Outer Space for providing the recordings. Thanks for listening to Heard in Humboldt on KHSU and Tune in next time as we explore more live music from behind the redwood curtain

And if you’re a local musician who would to be featured on Heard in Humboldt, send us an email at khsu@humboldt.edu
