Heard in Humboldt: Cal Poly Humboldt Calypso Band, Part 2

Because we’ve been given access to such great recordings of Cal Poly Humboldt’s Calypso Band, provided by director Eugene Novotney, we’ve decided to do another Calypso episode!

Today we’ll be starting out with a recording of the group performing “La Samba,” composed by Ray Obiedo, captured live on April 23, 2022 in the John Van Duzer Theatre on Cal Poly Humboldt Campus, and featuring special guests Avery Attz, Jaden Teague-Nuñuz and Liam Teague.

We'll next feature a segment of “Mariella’s Dance,” composed by Ray Holman, who is also special guest performing with the group during this show, recorded on April 23, 2022, also in the Van Duzer Theatre.

Thank you for listening to Heard in Humboldt on KHSU and tune in next time, as we explore more live music from behind the Redwood Curtain. And if you’re a local musician who would like your live recordings featured on Heard in Humboldt, send us an email at khsu@humboldt.edu
