Heard in Humboldt: The Paula Jones Band

Today we’ll be re-airing a portion of a recording originally from Lost Coast Sessions - a partnership between KHSU and PBS North Coast that was hosted by Monica Topping on KHSU. This recording is of the Paula Jones Band, a local jazz favorite, featuring Paula on vocals Ken Lawrence on bass, Tim Randles on keyboards, Mike LaBolle on drums and Don Baraka on woodwinds.

This recording was captured live at the Arcata Playhouse and was first aired in 2018, and features two tunes “Bye Bye Blackbird,” written by Ray Henderson and Mort Dixon, and “Nature Boy” written by Eden Ahbez.

Thanks to the musicians, to the Arcata Playhouse and everyone involved in Lost Coast Sessions. You can find the full Lost Coast Sessions recording here.

Thanks for listening to Heard in Humboldt on KHSU and tune in next time, as we explore more live music from behind the redwood curtain.

And if you’re a local musician who would like your live recordings featured on Heard in Humboldt, send us an email at khsu@humboldt.edu
