From earthquakes, to wildfires, to heavy winter storms - we’re certainly no strangers to disasters on the North Coast. But, do you know how to respond in different types of emergencies? That’s where the Humboldt Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Coalition comes in, helping community members better prepare for and respond to urgent situations in our area.

This week we met with Linda Nellist, board chair for the Humboldt CERT Council, to learn more about the services CERT provides, how you can join a CERT training and how you can support the coalition, including by attending the upcoming gala on March 1.

Visit the Humboldt CERT Coalition’s website for more information on the group and its trainings. The Mardi Gras Masquerade Gala, hosted by the Rotary Club of Southwest Eureka, benefiting Humboldt CERT is Saturday, March 1 at 6:30 p.m. at the Sequoia Conference Center. You can find tickets and more info here.

Thank you for listening and stay tuned for more episodes of North Coast Conversations as we explore more of what the North Coast has to offer.
