Last week we highlighted The Kinetic Grand Championship – a three day race of human-powered sculptures, spanning from Arcata to Ferndale, happening over Memorial Day weekend. But another big part of Kinetics tradition is the annual Rutabaga Ball, where the Rutabaga Queen is crowned to reign over the race.
This week we met with 2024 Rutabaga Queen Olivia Gambino to learn more about the ball and how the rutabaga Queens provide invaluable support for the kinetic grand championship.
The Rutabaga Ball is on Saturday, May 24 (the night of the first day of the race) at 7 p.m. at the Eureka Theatre. You can find more information and tickets at this link .
