This week we met with Janessa Johnsrude, director of Dell’Arte’s Prison Arts Theatre program, which brings theatre workshops and classes to incarcerated individuals at Pelican Bay and learn more about the upcoming documentary, “We’re All We Need,” highlighting one of the theatre groups and their experience with the program.
“We’re All We Need,” will premiere at Dell’arte’s Carlo Theatre on Friday, Aug 1. A discussion will follow the film, with an opportunity to have your thoughts shared with the participants featured in the film via written feedback. Zines created by program participants – featuring their written poetry, monologues and more – will also be available for purchase as a fundraiser with all proceeds donated to the Pacific Redwoods Missing and Murdered Indigenous People’s Crisis Action fund, an organization selected by the participants.
You can find more information about the program and tickets to the film premiere on Dell’Arte’s website. You can also purchase tickets at the box office at 131 H Street, Blue Lake.
Another KHSU program, Talk Humboldt, has also been taking a deep-dive into other components of Pelican Bay's Prison Arts Program. Take a listen!
