Local music lovers are invited to gather at the Eureka Woman’s Club for an inspiring afternoon with the Temporary Resonance Trio on Sunday, February 8 at 3:00 pm.
The Trio, which includes Eureka Symphony concertmaster Terrie Baune, cellist and conductor Carol Jacobson, and pianist John Chernoff, will feature trios by Rebecca Clarke and Robert Schumann, and the sonata for violin and piano by César Franck.
Clarke was a highly regarded English composer and performer of the early 20th century, and her moody and passionate Piano Trio is recognized as one of her best works. Franck's Violin Sonata is a keystone of the violin/piano repertoire, one of his most famous works, and a favorite of audiences everywhere for its charm and fire. We conclude the program by continuing our exploration of Robert Schumann's trio repertoire and presenting his Piano Trio #1 in D minor, a piece that exhibits his mastery of the Romantic sensibility.
The Trio complements their performance with thoughtful commentary on the music, enriching our understanding and appreciation.
Sweet and savory treats will be served with coffee and tea during intermission.
This annual chamber music concert is a major benefit for the Eureka Symphony, with all proceeds going towards supporting the Symphony’s music programs.
