Trillium Charter School is a no cost public school in Arcata for students in TK through 5th grade. We offer small class sizes and an aide in every classroom. Trillium provides free meals and snacks as well as low cost or no cost morning and after care for working parents. We offer a full day and a partial day program in our three multi-grade classrooms. The Mateel Community Center invites you to Reggae on the River 2026, happening August 14 through 16 along the beautiful Eel River in Humboldt County.

Ney-puy is back on the menu at the Yurok Tribe’s 62nd annual Klamath Salmon Festival on Saturday, August 15.

The theme of this year’s event is “The Return of the Salmon.” For the first time in four years, attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy salmon at the festival. The salmon lunch will include a fresh piece of traditionally cooked fish, salad, fruit, a drink and a roll for $15. Yurok elders will receive free lunch tickets at the event.

The 62nd Salmon Festival is packed with fun activities for people of all ages. The day will include a Ney-puy Fun Run/5K, a parade, live music by Blue Rhythm Revue, Indian Card Game, Stick Game, basketball, softball and disc golf tournaments and more than 170 vendors selling high-quality gift items.

The Salmon Festival presents a great opportunity to support local artists and entrepreneurs.

On Saturday, August 15, BridgeFest will celebrate its 30th year of the Alien & Human Games. There's the Flying saucer toss off the old bridge, Alien costume contest and Alien Calling contest. From 11-5 there is Live Music, a kidz zone, more games, a Huge raffle, food and lots of vendors. The event is located on the Bridgeville School Grounds. Join the North Coast Scottish Society for our annual Celtic Picnic featuring a mini Highland Games on the lawn at Lost Coast Brewery.

Try your hand at tossing a caber or channel your inner Scottish footballer by trying to flip a traffic cone. Ladies and theydies can see how far they can throw a welly while kids compete in sheep tossing (of the stuffed animal variety). Lads dressed in kilts can enter into the bonny knees competition. Prizes will be awarded to winners!

IllumiNature, a brand-new outdoor spectacle from Playhouse Arts Follow the light. Discover the wonder. Illuminate nature.

On the evening of August 28, beneath the glow of the full moon, Playhouse Arts invites you to step into IllumiNature, a twilight spectacle from Playhouse Arts transforming the trails of Carlson Park into a magical journey of light, art, and imagination.

Join us through riverside paths led by giant puppets and glowing lanterns. Along the way, hidden artistic encounters await, from live performances and interactive installations to a grand finale featuring shadow puppetry and riverfront spectacle, created by local artists James Hildebrandt, Laura Muñoz, Carissa Clark, Katie Belknap, James Zeller, David Ferney, Victoria Timoteo, Alexandra Hilsee, Nicholas Simone, Jacqueline Dandeneau, and more.

This immersive experience brings together art, nature, and community in a one-night-only celebration of 20 Years as Playhouse Arts. Follow the lanterns and walk the circle, where light becomes shadow, and shadow becomes light.

There will also be a series of free community lantern building workshops on August 8, 16, 22, and 23.
