The first Culture Commons Festival brings three days of music, art, film, dance, storytelling and food to venues across the Eureka Cultural Arts District, September 25 to 27. Friday opens with Red Cedar, a Native percussion ensemble. Saturday: a makers fair at Blue Ox Millworks, taiko and dance on the waterfront, a puppet parade to the Old Town Gazebo, and a drag runway show at the Clarke Museum. Sunday: a Stories of Wigi celebration of storytellers at the Wiyot Tribe's Da Gou Rou Louwi' Cultural Center, short films by North Coast filmmakers at the Eureka Theater, and square dancing and swing to close. The Bayside Grange #500 invites the community to its Harvest Moon Dance on Saturday, September 26th, with doors opening at 5:30 PM. Entry is free. The evening will feature live music from Buddy Reed and th’ Rip It Ups, along with food, drinks, and fun for all. A pie contest and auction will also be held - bakers are encouraged to enter their best recipes. Grange halls have long served as gathering places for rural and agricultural communities, and Bayside Grange continues that tradition. Proceeds from this event will help maintain the historic hall and support the Grange’s ongoing community programs, including educational workshops, emergency preparedness efforts, community meals, and partnerships with local nonprofits.

Pastels on the Plaza transforms Arcata's sidewalks into a colorful outdoor art gallery while supporting early childhood development and education!
