About our Sessions
Session 1- Ranch and Wild, ages 8-10

Get to know your cabin mates, swim in the river, sing songs, hike in Mill Creek forest, make art, do archery and camp under the stars, listen to a Robinson Crusoe story, earn a medallion, feed cows on ranch day, dig potatoes, go canoeing up the river, climb your mountains…. There’s so much to do!

Session 2 - Makers Camp, ages 11-13

Create, build, discover creativity and the art of Making.  Making is a great way to experiment and explore, to try to do something new, and let magic get the best of you.  When there are a small group and fantastic coaches, watch what you can make.

Here are your choices:  When you register for Makers Camp let us know your preferences!  At the Gallery Show on the last day of camp, you can show your creations. Campers usually get their first or second choice.

1. Design and Build-  What will you make?  Using tools, and materials plan it and during the week, get the materials and, yes, BUILD IT!  A bench, birdhouse, a raft, a trebuchet… what will it be? In the past  LCC campers designed and built 2 amazing catapults. Another year there were 2 rafts to race on the river.  Last year there was drum making and shelter building. Let’s see what ideas come with you this year.

2. Culinary Arts – What’s Cookin’?  Maybe get your ingredients from the garden or from the grocery store, and learn to make a variety of the most marvelous dishes with what you have. Yummmmm.  Cooking up a creative storm of amazing foods was what we did last year. Crazy easy ranch dip,  deviled eggs, easy quiche… What will it be?

3. Performing Arts- The curtain’s going up for you here for music, dance, theater games,  Spoken Word. You’ll have help from the pros and put together an amazing little show. On July 25, 2013, there was an unforgettable Flash Mob dance show with 12 campers rockin’ it.

4. Plant Magic-  Go out with a naturalist and explore our plants, gather and dry them and make salves, teas, and sachets.

Session 3- River and Adventure, ages 9-12

River and Adventure camp is a lot like Ranch and Wild camp. Get to know your cabin mates, swim in the river, sing songs, hike in Mill Creek forest, make art, do archery and camp under the stars, listen to Robinson Crusoe story, earn a medallion, feed cows on ranch day, dig potatoes, go canoeing up the river, climb your mountains….

There’s so much to do!

Teen Leadership Camp and Backpacking Trip, ages 13-15

For the past 22 years Lost Coast Camp has had our teens go on a 5-6 day backpack trip with  2 days at camp doing prep. This has been highly successful for these young people, and often they return to be great junior counselors as 16 and 17-year-olds and many come back as counselors afterward.

In 2019, we added new leadership training for our teens to help them become greater role models and leaders. In the additional days at camp and throughout the 10 days, we will provide training in backpacking and wilderness medicine, positive communication and conflict resolution, public speaking and storytelling, and also planning community service projects for the coming year.

Backpacking trip info:

The backpacking trip is 5 days and 4 nights. Are most common backpacking locations are the Lost Coast Trail, the Sinkyone Wilderness, and the Marble Mountains. Prior to your or your camper's arrival to camp, we will inform you of what trail will be hiked, along with the difficulty level. Please be prepared for all difficulty levels, from hiking on the sand to uphill trails and hiking 3-10 miles a day. We recommend and encourage personal conditioning before coming to camp, including getting to know your gear.

Day Camp Pathfinders (5-7) and Trailblazers (6-8)

Our action-packed and exciting Explorers Jr. Day Camp offers a safe environment for kids ages 5-7.  In this 5 day, session campers have Beach Day, River Day, Ranch Day, and a hayride. Led by experienced and friendly staff, these little ones get to experience the beginning magic of Lost Coast Camp.

Note: This is a day camp and for families who want to camp out at our local county park or the beach or for those who live in the Valley.

Junior Counselor Training Camp, ages 15-17

We are now offering JCTC, Counselor Training Camp, for all our incoming Junior Cousnlors and future Junior Counselors. This will be 4 days filled with not only classic camp activities like swimming in the river and singing songs at campfire, but we will also be teaching our JCs what it's like to be a counselor! They will participate in training activities similar to what our staff goes through during Orientation as well as learning more skills for becoming JCs, CITs, and future Counselors.
