The Arcata Plaza Farmers’ Market is open every Saturday, year round, offering the freshest produce, meat, fish, cheese, eggs, bread, flowers, and more! Enjoy music and hot food vendors at this fun, family friendly event. No pets are allowed, but trained, ADA certified, service animals are welcome. The Humboldt Rose Society will be hosting their Annual Rose and Plant Sale on Saturday, May 10th, 2025, from 10am – 4pm. This sale is just in time for Mother’s Day. Find a rose for a loved one…or, for yourself!

Humboldt Literacy Project invites families to visit Celebrate Asian American Month with stories, dance, and hands-on fun! Enjoy a dragon dance and parade, embody Zodiac animals, try tai chi moves, explore chopsticks, and hear the tale of the Nian Monster. A playful, cultural journey for kids and families to explore Chinese heritage together.

Join Sea Goat Farmstand and Chef Andrea of The Culinary Underground for a unique, spring-inspired tasting experience that celebrates the vibrant flavors of the season. This curated event will feature an interactive tasting centered around artisan and farmstead cheeses handcrafted by skilled cheesemakers from Humboldt County. Guests will have the opportunity to sample a variety of exceptional cheeses while learning about the techniques, stories, and farms behind each bite.
Each cheese will be paired with wines from Miles Garrett Wines, a small, family-run vineyard. Their delicious, locally made wines are the perfect match for the cheeses and bring out the best in every bite. It’s a fun way to experience the unique flavors and craftsmanship our region has to offer.

The event will take place at Sea Goat Farmstand & The Makers’ Space, a creative and community-centered venue nestled in the heart of McKinleyville at 1450 Hiller Road. Surrounded by the natural beauty of the North Coast, this gathering is a celebration of local craftsmanship, seasonal abundance, and the connection between food and place.

The 42nd annual Atalanta's Victory run put on by Six Rivers Running Club and the Breast and GYN Health Project is a fun run supporting women and women's health. Starting and finishing at the Arcata Co-op the race consists of 2 mile and 5 mile flat out and back courses through the Arcata bottoms and is open to strollers and wheelchairs. Both races start at 10am. Proceeds from the race support the Breast and GYN Health Project as well as local running teams. The Lutheran Church of Arcata invites the community to an uplifting Dixieland Jazz Service on Mother’s Day, May 11th. The annual jazz service features the music of a seven-piece traditional Dixieland band, and promises to be a spirited celebration of God‘s gifts of life, love, and motherhood — all set to a soundtrack of New Orleans-style jazz spirituals. After the service, authentic French Market Beignets and Cafe au Lait will be served al fresca in the church courtyard. Bring your mother, your kids, and join the fun!

Gather with us at Om Shala Yoga Studio for a heart-opening musical meditation designed to alleviate stress, elevate consciousness, and nourish the soul. This special Mother's Day kirtan will feature chants devoted to the divine mother. Yoga teacher Geneva Elise leads the event and special friends will share their chants. All members of the community are invited to participate and lead a chant if they feel called to do so!

For those that don't know, mantra meditation (Kirtan) is an ancient spiritual practice of Bhakti Yoga. Through joyful, call-and-response chanting of sacred Sanskrit mantras, we raise our collective vibration, connect with our hearts, and awaken the divine within.

During this 90-minute journey, we’ll sing, share stories of the deities we honor through chant, and co-create a space of deep connection. Good voice, bad voice, no voice—no problem! This is a practice of presence, not performance.

All are welcome. Families are encouraged, and children under 16 attend for free. We hope to see you there!
