Friends of the Arcata Marsh (FOAM) is sponsoring a free tour of the Arcata Marsh & Wildlife Sanctuary each Saturday. Meet leaders at 2 p.m. outside the Interpretive Center on South G Street for a 90-minute, rain-or-shine walk.
A festival to celebrate Palestinian culture and resilience. Art for children, Palestinian embroidery for crafters, food for sustenance, music and dance. All ages welcome. Several "stations" with various activities, including rolling your own stuffed grape leaves, "warak dawali" in Palestinian.
The Balourdet Quartet returns to Humboldt, performing works by Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Schubert, Brahms and the celebrated contemporary American composer Paul Novak. This is a great opportunity to hear the energy and enthusiasm of a still young ensemble, recently named the first-ever quartet-in-residence at the Seattle Chamber Music Society after completing post-graduate residencies at Indiana University and the New England Conservatory’s Professional String Quartet Program. Since their visit last year, the Balourdet Quartet has debuted at Carnegie Hall in New York City and London’s Wigmore Hall, further establishing its reputation as one of the finest string quartets playing live concerts today.

FROGBITE is an original eclectic four piece band creating a diverse landscape of styles from rock, country, jazz, blues, and all in between. FROGBITE members are residents of Central Humboldt County. The members are Lisa C. Sharry: songwriter, lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Paul Agpawa: lead guitar; Shawn O'Connor: bass guitar; and Clayton Bennett: drums.FROGBITE has a way of appealing to everyone, offering up creative and versatile originals to touch your heart and soul leaving you wanting to come back for more.
TIMBATA is a 7-piece Afro-Cuban band based in Humboldt County on the Northern California coast. The band members include Gary Davidson on bass, Tyler Hunt on Timbales & Percussion, Howie Kaufman on Steelpan & Percussion, Matt McClimon on keyboards, Nick Moore on Guitar, Eugene Novotney on Steelpan, Surya Sardonicus on Drumset, and DavidPeñalosa on Congas. Many of these band members have played music together in various groups for over 30-years.

Lena is a Feldenkrais and meditation teacher, writer, and somatic therapist. In this 4-week series, she invites us to explore voice, breath, awareness, and movement. A blend of gentle movement lessons and somatic practices will help us release tension, free the breath and voice, and enhance our physical presence — both on and off the stage. No prior experience with the Feldenkrais Method is necessary, just a willingness to explore and engage with your body, voice, and self-expression. 4 classes starting 3/1- please bring a blanket or a mat. This is a 5 hour, 4 week series.
