The musical is based on the 1949 book The Story of the Trapp Family Singers by Maria von Trapp. Set in Austria on the eve of the Anschluss in 1938, the musical tells the story of Maria, who takes a job as governess to a large family while she decides whether to become a nun. She falls in love with the children, and eventually their widowed father, Captain von Trapp. He is ordered to accept a commission in the German Navy, but he opposes the Nazis. He and Maria decide on a plan to flee Austria with the children. Many songs from the musical have become standards, including "Do-Re-Mi", "My Favorite Things", "Edelweiss", "Climb Ev'ry Mountain", and the title song "The Sound of Music".

A: Join us for our Trivia & Pint Night at Redwood Curtain in Arcata on Wednesday, August 19th!

Redwood Curtain will generously be donating $1 for every beer sold from when their doors open at 11am until they close at 10pm. South G Kitchen will be open, so why not stop in on your lunch break or take your family out for dinner? Every dollar raised by this fundraiser goes directly to FOER’s work to recover the Wild & Scenic Eel River, its fisheries and communities.

Starting at 5:30pm, Friends of the Eel River will host an hour of Eel River themed trivia. Bring your friends and join in on the fun for a chance to win a prize!

When: Wednesday, August 19, from 11am – 10pm. Trivia from 5:30 – 6:30pm.
Where: Redwood Curtain Brewing Company at 550 S G St, Suite 4 in Arcata.
Cost: Free — But consider buying a pint for a good cause!

Take a break from the day and pick a bouquet. We have zinnias, dahlias, sunflowers, cosmos, marigolds, and much more. Suggested donation is $5 - 20 per bouquet.

Please park in the large gravel parking lot. Do not pull in at the gates near the barn. Thanks!
