Redwood Region Audubon Society will be offering a free public field trip at the Arcata Marsh and Wildlife Sanctuary.
Bring your binoculars and enjoy the incredible views of Humboldt Bay, easy-to-walk trails, and a great diversity of birdlife!
Come out to the Humboldt Dockside Market where you can buy fish directly from Humboldt based fishing vessels.
Our commercial fishermen will be taking over Madaket Plaza at the foot of C street, Old Town Eureka on scheduled Saturdays from 9am- 1pm June - November,
Come down, meet your fishermen, and learn about our fishing industry. Captains will be selling their fresh catch open air style. Buy a whole fish and have it filleted on site at our custom fillet station. Making fish stock or need fish waste for your garden?? Let our Market staff know and we will have it wrapped up for you at pick-up. Buckets and Ice chests are encouraged.
The Dockside Market accepts CalFresh/EBT.

The Arcata Plaza Farmers’ Market is open every Saturday, year round, offering the freshest produce, meat, fish, cheese, eggs, bread, flowers, and more! Enjoy music and hot food vendors at this fun, family friendly event. No pets are allowed, but trained, ADA certified, service animals are welcome. In celebration of Halloween, McKinleyville Shopping Center will be holding its 41st Annual Halloween Costume Parade on Saturday, October 25th at 11 a.m.
Children are invited to visit the McKinleyville Shopping Center for a safe and fun trick-or-treating experience. This free community event is open to all children, and there will be lots of free candy and Halloween treats given out by the merchants. Children should meet by the signs in the parking lot at the Shopping Center before 11 a.m. to join in the fun. We start the parade promptly at 11 a.m. for all participants.
Join Friends of the Dunes for Nature Story Time at the Humboldt Coastal Nature Center. Nature Story Time is geared for ages 3 to 6, and is held every Thursdays from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM starting October 2nd and ending on December 11th. Each week there is a short story, movement activity and art project for children and their caregivers to enjoy. Upcoming topics include owls, pollinators, and dune plants. Nature Story Time on October 9th and November 20th will be bilingual (Spanish). Join Friends of the Dunes for a fun-filled, sugar free, Halloween dune adventure during our Spooky Dunes Tour on Saturday, October 25, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The quest will begin at the Humboldt Coastal Nature Center, located at 220 Stamps Lane, Manila. Costumes are highly encouraged, making the adventure even more festive! Feel free to drop in anytime between 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.This event is free, bilingual (Spanish), and designed for families with young children ages 3-10.
Explore the dunes and encounter a variety of whimsical creatures, from the Beach Grass Troll to the Forgetful Flower Fairy. Follow the map to discover the amazing biodiversity and ecology of the dunes, and complete your quest to uncover a treasure to take home! Please note that the event will be outdoors, so dress appropriately for the weather, bring a water bottle, and be ready for a short hike in soft sand.

Friends of the Arcata Marsh (FOAM) is sponsoring a free tour of the Arcata Marsh & Wildlife Sanctuary each Saturday. Meet leaders at 2 p.m. outside the Interpretive Center on South G Street for a 90-minute, rain-or-shine walk.
Join us for a walking tour of Ferndale's Victorian Village and Historic Cemetery. A local guide will lead these tours offering you a unique journey into the past.
During each October weekend, five 1-hour walking tours are offered by the Ferndale Cemetery Association. Each tour begins at Ferndale's Visitor Center (580 Main St., Ferndale, CA 95536) and ends with complimentary appetizers at a local restaurant.
Advanced reservations are required.
In October, the Ferndale Museum is holding Candlelight & Ghost Stories, a family-friendly tour through the museum with each spooky stop featuring a ghostly visit from a spirit of Ferndale's past. There are no "jump-scares" in the tour. Come join us for some spooky fun!
