Join Friends of the Dunes for Nature Story Time at the Humboldt Coastal Nature Center. Nature Story Time is geared for ages 3 to 6, and is held every Thursdays from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM starting October 2nd and ending on December 11th. Each week there is a short story, movement activity and art project for children and their caregivers to enjoy. Upcoming topics include owls, pollinators, and dune plants. Nature Story Time on October 9th and November 20th will be bilingual (Spanish). On Saturday, October 18, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., the California Native Plant Society is hosting a get-together for families at Sequoia Park. Meet at the fountain near T Street and Glatt in Eureka. Joann Kerns will present a half hour of basic botany. Potted plants will be available to take home to grow. For those who linger, a plant walk is possible. Learn a few native and non-native plants in our natural community.
Friends of the Arcata Marsh (FOAM) is sponsoring a free tour of the Arcata Marsh & Wildlife Sanctuary each Saturday. Meet leaders at 2 p.m. outside the Interpretive Center on South G Street for a 90-minute, rain-or-shine walk.
Join us for a walking tour of Ferndale's Victorian Village and Historic Cemetery. A local guide will lead these tours offering you a unique journey into the past.
During each October weekend, five 1-hour walking tours are offered by the Ferndale Cemetery Association. Each tour begins at Ferndale's Visitor Center (580 Main St., Ferndale, CA 95536) and ends with complimentary appetizers at a local restaurant.
Advanced reservations are required.
A dinner and dance fundraiser for companion animal foundations spay and neuter assistance programs. Live music by Claire bent and Citizen Funk with a costume contest, howling contesting and a delicious vegitarian meal.
In October, the Ferndale Museum is holding Candlelight & Ghost Stories, a family-friendly tour through the museum with each spooky stop featuring a ghostly visit from a spirit of Ferndale's past. There are no "jump-scares" in the tour. Come join us for some spooky fun!

🚌 Park at Dyerville Overlook, exit 663 off of Highway 101. Take the free shuttle to start your haunted adventure!
🕯️🦇 Stroll along a 0.6 mile loop trail, with 1,000 luminaries to light your way. Frightful and delightful spooks along the way! Enjoy Pixar movie (Coco), hot chocolate, and cookies by the campfire. All of this, and shuttle, are included in the price of your ticket.
🎃 The Haunted Halloween Candlelit trail will be open from 6:00 - 10:00pm. The last shuttle will be leaving the event (and going back to Dyerville Overlook) at 10:15pm. Plan accordingly.

The Eureka Chamber Music Series opens their new concert season with two superb programs from cellist Gary Hoffman, who made his phenomenal debut performance on the series last fall. The Canadian-born, American cellist lives in Paris, teaches cello performance at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, and serves as master-in-residence for cello at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Brussels, Belgium. Combining instrumental mastery, great beauty of sound, and a poetic sensibility, Hoffman will play a Mainstage Concert featuring major works for cello by Gabriel Fauré, Johannes Brahms, and Antonín Dvořák.
