“Wusatoumuduk: We Make it Burn” is a new multi-media stage play about Cultural Fire produced by Sugarbush Hill Moving Lhatsik, a Dreammaker project of the Ink People led by Co-Artistic Directors Michelle Hernandez (Wiyot) and Zuzka Sabata. The play emphasizes the urgent need to embrace time-honored land stewardship practices that have supported ecological balance for millennia.

This full-length theatrical production is touring in Humboldt County public parks throughout October, featuring up and coming local Native cast members, nationally acclaimed Native director Tara Moses (Seminole Nation of Oklahoma, Mvskoke), and three filmed traditional Wiyot stories told through shadow puppetry.

We encourage audience members to bring camping chairs, blankets, headlamps or flashlights, and dress warmly. This play is appropriate for all audiences, and free to attend. Take a break from the day and pick a bouquet. We have zinnias, dahlias, sunflowers, cosmos, marigolds, and much more. Suggested donation is $5 - 20 per bouquet.

Join Friends of the Dunes for a FREE Nature Story Time at the Humboldt Coastal Nature Center. Nature Story Time is geared towards ages 0 to 5 and is held every Wednesday from 2:00 to 3:00 PM starting September 30 and ending December 9 (skipping November 25).

Each week there is a short story, movement activity, and art project for children and their caregivers to enjoy.

The Natural History Museum of Cal Poly Humboldt is hosting Scientific Illustration night. Second Wednesday of the month. February 11th, 5:30-7:30 p.m. Participants will draw the specimen collection. Tables with a variety of specimens, Instruction of drawing techniques. After Hours museum experience, music,Art materials (or bring your own). Space is limited so reserve your spot now for a night of fun. Ages Teen-Adult. Monthly event!
