Friends of the Arcata Marsh (FOAM) is sponsoring a free tour of the Arcata Marsh & Wildlife Sanctuary each Saturday. Meet leaders at 2 p.m. outside the Interpretive Center on South G Street for a 90-minute, rain-or-shine walk.
Humboldt Literacy Project and Humboldt County Library invite families to a Family Literacy Party tour featuring The Magic Measuring Cup by Sean’s Shadows. Artist, musician, and storyteller Sean Powers presents tales of folklore and fantasy using handcrafted shadow puppets and musical instruments from around the world. This is a free event for children and the adults who love them! Attendees get to choose their own free book to keep. FROGBITE is an original eclectic four piece band creating a diverse landscape of styles from rock, country, jazz, blues, and all in between. All FROGBITE members are residents of Central Humboldt County.The members are Paul Agpawa: lead guitar; Shawn O'Conner: bass guitar; Clayton Bennett: drums; and Lisa C. Sharry: lead vocals and rhythm guitar.

Humboldt Repair Café is a free program where community members can bring in small items and receive expert assistance with repair.
A Repair Café is a community-driven event where people can bring their broken items to be repaired by volunteer experts. These volunteers, ranging from electricians and seamstresses to bike mechanics and woodworkers, are passionate about fixing things and helping others. The Repair Café not only encourages sustainability by preventing waste but also fosters a sense of community, learning and creativity.

Free Repairs: Bring broken items and get them fixed for free by skilled volunteers.Expert Advice: Volunteers will provide tips on how to fix items at home and extend the life of these belongings.All Ages Welcome: The Repair Café is family-friendly and encourages everyone to get involved.Community Building: Meet neighbors, share knowledge and collaborate on keeping items out of landfills.How It Works:
Bring Broken Items: Gather items to get repaired and bring them to the event.Get Matched with a Volunteer: A team of experts will match participants with the right volunteer based on the items brought.Learn and Fix Together: Watch as the repair happens, learn valuable skills and ask questions during the process.The first Humboldt Repair Café will take place on Sunday, April 6 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Arcata Community, 321 Dr. MLK Jr. Parkway. This event is free and attendees should bring broken household items, clothing, small appliances, electronics and similar items, but motor vehicles, large household appliances and anything that cannot be individually carried through a doorway should be left at home.
