The California Native Plant Society will be hosting its 43rd annual Wildflower Show on May 2nd through May 4th at the Jefferson Community Center (1000 B Street, Eureka). Friday evening is Art Night. Keynote lectures will be given on Saturday and Sunday. Come see hundreds of species of cut flowers and listen to pop-up talks every half hour. This year’s theme is the family of rhododendrons, manzanitas, and madrone. For details see northcoastcnps.org.

Union Street Charter is inviting families with students that will be entering kindergarten in the future to attend their open house on May 2nd from 5:30-7:30. At open house, teachers showcase student work from the school year including language arts, math, art, and science. The school is located at 470 Union Street and parking is available at the community center.Union Street Charter is a public and unique K-5 school that balances arts and academics in a family atmosphere. It’s high performing in part because it attracts highly qualified, dedicated and enthusiastic teachers, as well as invested parents and students from the surrounding communities. Join Ashlee of Garden Muse Designs for this fun and flowery workshop at the makers’ space! This workshop will teach you how to directly transfer the color and print of preserve d flowers onto bamboo socks. Coffee, tea and edible floral crackers and cookies provided with the class! As a bonus, create beautiful cards using Hapa Zome (a traditional Japanese printing method) while you wait for your socks to steam! This class is at our McKinleyville location- 1450 Hiller Rd
