The California Native Plant Society will be hosting its 43rd annual Wildflower Show on May 2nd through May 4th at the Jefferson Community Center (1000 B Street, Eureka). Friday evening is Art Night. Keynote lectures will be given on Saturday and Sunday. Come see hundreds of species of cut flowers and listen to pop-up talks every half hour. This year’s theme is the family of rhododendrons, manzanitas, and madrone. For details see northcoastcnps.org.

The Garberville Certified Farmers' Market offers the freshest fruits and vegetables, meat, fish, cheese, eggs, bread, flowers, crafts and more! Enjoy music and hot food vendors at this fun, family friendly event. No pets are allowed, but trained, ADA certified, service animals are welcome. CalFresh EBT customers are able to receive a market match at every farmers’ market. Visit the market info booth for more information. Open 11am - 3pm every Friday, May-mid November.

Join other nature lovers in the progress on this small community driven botanical garden which features native species. Contribute as you are able to the creation of habitat for the local bees, birds, butterflies and other little creatures. Take home some cuttings/seeds.
Bring a bucket and garden tool, or just your enthusiasm!

Directions: Go west on Hiller Road to the parking lot for Hammond Trail/Soccer Field/Dog Park. Garden is adjacent to playground.

Union Street Charter is inviting families with students that will be entering kindergarten in the future to attend their open house on May 2nd from 5:30-7:30. At open house, teachers showcase student work from the school year including language arts, math, art, and science. The school is located at 470 Union Street and parking is available at the community center.
Union Street Charter is a public and unique K-5 school that balances arts and academics in a family atmosphere. It’s high performing in part because it attracts highly qualified, dedicated and enthusiastic teachers, as well as invested parents and students from the surrounding communities. The teachers and principal collaboratively choose an engaging research-based curriculum. Union Street Charter is a highly sought after school for multiple reasons: small class size (17 students), parent involvement, engaging academic content, and twice weekly instruction in Spanish, art and music.

Join Ashlee of Garden Muse Designs for this fun and flowery workshop at the makers’ space! This workshop will teach you how to directly transfer the color and print of preserve d flowers onto bamboo socks. Coffee, tea and edible floral crackers and cookies provided with the class! As a bonus, create beautiful cards using Hapa Zome (a traditional Japanese printing method) while you wait for your socks to steam! This class is at our McKinleyville location- 1450 Hiller Rd

For the month of April, wildflower art is being freely exchanged via little art galleries atop posts, scattered around the community. Visit the galleries to admire the art. Pick up a piece you love.
