Join Friends of the Dunes for a FREE Nature Story Time at the Humboldt Coastal Nature Center. Nature Story Time is geared towards ages 0 to 5 and is held every Wednesday from 2:00 to 3:00 PM starting September 30 and ending December 9 (skipping November 25).

Each week there is a short story, movement activity, and art project for children and their caregivers to enjoy.

Enjoy music and hot food vendors at this fun, family friendly event. No pets are allowed, but trained, ADA certified, service animals are welcome. Enjoy music and hot food vendors at this fun, family friendly event. No pets are allowed, but trained, ADA certified, service animals are welcome. “Wusatoumuduk: We Make it Burn” is a new multi-media stage play about Cultural Fire produced by Sugarbush Hill Moving Lhatsik, a Dreammaker project of the Ink People led by Co-Artistic Directors Michelle Hernandez (Wiyot) and Zuzka Sabata. The play emphasizes the urgent need to embrace time-honored land stewardship practices that have supported ecological balance for millennia.

This full-length theatrical production is touring in Humboldt County public parks throughout October, featuring up and coming local Native cast members, nationally acclaimed Native director Tara Moses (Seminole Nation of Oklahoma, Mvskoke), and three filmed traditional Wiyot stories told through shadow puppetry.

We encourage audience members to bring camping chairs, blankets, headlamps or flashlights, and dress warmly. This play is appropriate for all audiences, and free to attend. Creature Corner: Art by Graham Payne is a solo exhibition of original creatures, sculptures, paintings, masks, artifacts, and other biological impossibilities. The work combines traditional and digital sculpture, 3D printing, painting, and creature design with bright color, strange biology, humor, and a slightly creepy but inviting atmosphere. Opening October 3 during Arts Alive at 424 Gallery in Old Town Eureka. The exhibition will also be open every Saturday in October from 6–9 PM.
