The California Native Plant Society invites the public to view wildflowers at the Jefferson Community Center, Friday afternoon, May 3 (2 p.m. to 8 p.m.), through Sunday, May 5 (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.). Hundreds of fresh wildflowers will be on display. On Friday evening, guests are encouraged to paint or draw the flowers. Some art supplies will be provided, and experienced artists will be present to tutor. On Saturday and Sunday, every half hour, pop-up talks will be presented. Topics will include violet pollination, invasive plants, and the carrot family. Guests may bring a flower to be identified by experts. And this year, the theme is wetlands, so plants of coastal salt marshes and flood plains along streams will have their own table, including plants with showy flowers and those that are wind pollinated. Nestled within the serene landscapes of California's northern coast, the NCMG is a sacred tradition weaving together the hearts & souls of conscious men from all walks of life.
More than just an annual event; the purpose of the Gathering is to create a safe place in which men can tenderly explore aspects of themselves and their masculinity/femininity, with the unconditional support, boundless compassion and profound respect of other men.
The Gathering is a grassroots experience where men participate in various workshops, games that transcend competition to foster connection, soulfully expressive art, and fire circles of shared stories and wisdom.
